I’m a pretty ordinary guy. I have no particular claim to fame other than that I love working with small businesses. Statistically that means any business with an annual revenue of less than $25 million, fewer than 50 employees, and gross assets of less than $12.5 million.
While I have some clients towards the higher end of that definition, most are considerably smaller with turnover between $2-5million. Actually, size doesn’t matter to me but attitude does: I like to work with people who want to get better at whatever it is they do.
I am an Accredited Mindshop Facilitator, a Certified Management Consultant and a Fellow of CPA Australia. and I have been helping people build better businesses for well over 20 years. Clients tell me I am particularly good at explaining financial principles but my main focus is on using this information to help them identify opportunities and implement change.
During my time as a business coach and advisor I have come to realise that it is not usually difficult to come up with ideas for improvement or to develop a business strategy or plan. Where most people struggle is in implementing those ideas. I think there are several reasons for this but mostly it is because plans are often unrealistic, change is hard and takes time to implement and, because of this, people lose focus. I have also learned that I can’t help everyone but I can help most people if they really want to change.
